Placed on the edge of small plateau on afforested lot, the house overlooks a valley to the south. The house constructed with hand crafted 14 inch diam. logs, placed on insulated concrete block basement walls. Structurally insolated roof panels were used for this project. In the spirit of older camp structures built in North America, much of the framing for interior partitions and cabinets, as well as galvanized hardware has been left exposed to view, adding to the visual richness of the house. The natural look of the log timber post-and-beam construction on the exterior of the house gives the illusion of the structure growing out from the forest. In the pool area, using heavy timber post-and-beam construction enables the exterior walls to be free from load-bearing, allowing for design flexibility.
